Day 101 - Firenze and Markets

We woke up somewhat early and prepared ourselves for a day of walking and shopping. We started off at the San Lorenzo market, known for it’s peddlers of leather, scarves, and jewelry. We spent quite some time here in the morning and even went to the Central Food Market, which of course was my favorite part. The food market was a real treat and after buying some last tasty bits for our meals, we finished up shopping at the market. Melaine had been eyeing some red belts and found a gorgeous leather bag to buy too, however, she left emptyhanded, except for a few scarves. We all walked away with scarves and my mom found a really nice leather bound book for our vacation photos to go in.

We then traversed the city. We took a spin in the Duromo, hit up Grom’s gelati, shopped a bit, went to Piazza Vechio where we saw the replica of the David statue and the Medici palace. Then we strolled by St. Croce, where Galileo and Michelangelo are both buried. We hit Ponte Vecchio for a little gold shopping and then finally made it home after a very hot and non eventful trip to H&M.

We rested a bit and then headed out to dinner. I took the girls to Trattoria ZaZa, which is where I ate the first time in Firenze. After being told we would have a 30 minute wait, we were sat within in 5 minutes. I give credit to us ladies for looking so very attractive! We sat outside and proceeded to enjoy a fantastic meal.

A cheese plate, pasta course, second course, and dolci. I had the special which was rabbit ragu with potato filled tortalini. Oh My was it good! The dolci was just as amazing as everything else. Fresh strawberries with custard, chocolate torte, and the hightlight, House Specialty cheesecake. Potentially the best cheesecake any of us had ever eaten. It was so creamy and the perfect flavor, not too sweet. So yummy.

Home we went, although Melaine and I did stop for a quick drink, which then turned into us wanting to fall asleep at the bar, so we made it a fairly early evening.

Good night all!
