Day 13 - God Bless the Hot Water Heater

genario 6, 2011

It was a very cold day in Orvieto today, all day. It was on and off sprinkles for most of the day, they are claiming there will be snow in the morning, but I am not so sure. The kitchen was so cold this morning, that I stood by the stoves to stay warm, it worked for a bit then service started. We had a party of 30 today, so a 5 course menu, very easy and efficient this time around. The next party is on the 20th, 80 people, but it will be easy I am sure, as we keep getting more and more used to this type of plating and preparation.

We had a nice 2.5 hour siesta break today, so of course, we all were on the internet keeping up with family and friends back home. I know that this time should be used for exploring and such, but all the shops are closed during this time too, so it is a bit of a challenge. Once we get internet at the apartment (fingers crossed it will be next week) then I will explore and do all of the tours and such that are offered on the mountain.

Great news!!! We are only going to be open for lunch tomorrow, so an unexpected night off, which will be very nice and restful. Dinner was slow, but we did have delicious beef tenderloin au poive today for family meal. We used pink peppercorns, tasty, tasty. Home now and actually in bed at a decent time. There is no lack of hot water in our shower either, this is so very exciting to know after a long day of work in a kitchen. Pretty sure I took my longest shower today since being here, 15 minutes. Mostly just standing there washing away the chill in the air.

Sleep well everyone!!!
